FAQ
WhatsApp is the easiest way for Hea to reach your parent — most already have it, nothing new to install. If they prefer voice, Hea can call them directly. Hea introduces itself honestly as an AI companion in the first message — we don't pretend to be human, and your parent always knows what it is.
Yes, with their permission. You'll get a weekly summary plus a heads-up when something deserves your attention. Your parent decides what they share with Hea, and can ask Hea to keep something private from family at any time.
No to both. Hea is a wellness companion that works alongside your parent's GP and NHS care — never replaces it. We don't diagnose. We notice patterns, prepare summaries for the GP, and tell you when something deserves real medical attention. In an emergency, your parent should always call 999 or NHS 111.
Many parents are sceptical at first — and that's completely normal. Hea doesn't push. The first message is gentle: a hello, mentioning the family member who set it up, and an invitation to talk whenever they're ready. If your parent doesn't warm up to it within the first week, you can cancel without paying for the next month — no questions asked.
Hea works best when your parent can hold a conversation — even a short or repetitive one. For mild forgetfulness, Hea can be a steady, patient presence and gently notice patterns over weeks. For more advanced dementia, Hea isn't designed to replace specialist care — organisations like Age UK and Alzheimer's Society will be more appropriate. We'll be honest with you in the setup — if it doesn't feel like the right fit, we'll say so.
It's £9.99 for the first month, then £20 a month — about 66p a day. No device to buy and no setup fees — it all works over WhatsApp. It's a subscription, so you can cancel any time, no questions asked. Setting it up for your mum or dad takes a few minutes: once you subscribe, we email you everything you need to get them started, and you can fill in a short health profile straight away. Questions before you start? Write to us at hello@tryhea.com.
End-to-end encryption. UK GDPR compliant. Your parent's health information is never sold, shared, or used for advertising. Only people they approve can see their data.
